HOW SEALING FASTENERS ARE USED
Seal fasteners have been used for over 50 years. HOW THEY WORK
ZāGO Sealing screws and nuts are grooved to support an o-ring sealing element. The groove under the head of the fastener provides a cavity for the o-ring to expand into. As the fastener is tightened, the o-ring cross section expands and re-shapes itself outward to the edge of the groove and inward to the threads which allows the surfaces to achieve full metal-to-metal contact. The cavity prevents the o-ring from being crushed (unlike washers) protecting the seal from breaking and avoiding leakage and equipment failure.
